Biblical Apostolate

Divine Word Missionaries actively promote the use of the bible. Father Tom Cahill SVD is the Province’s Coordinator for the Bible Apostolate. We proclaim God’s word through preaching, giving bible courses, days of recollection, weekend and weeklong retreats, and writing for publications. Father Gerard McCarthy SVD gives bible courses during Lent and Advent in Donamon, Roscommon. He also gives shorter courses in various locations as requests come in. A team of three priests, Frs. Tom Cahill, Gerard McCarthy and Peter Madden conduct a day of prayer and reflection on bible themes three times a year in Donamon for anybody interested. We have undertaken an initiative we call ‘scripture Ireland’ to facilitate networking among those promoting God’s word in parishes. scripture Ireland has its own website: www.scriptureireland.ie. You can find out about it there. With the help of a diocesan priest in Mullingar we are building it up gradually as a resource for anyone interested in serving God’s word at parish level. TOM CAHILL SVD NB: For any information regarding Bible courses, prayers, reflections and locations, please contact Fr. Tom Cahill SVD.
